Former BBC and Channel 4 star Gail Porter showed her horror injuries after tumbling down a flight of stairs at a London Tube station. The Scottish television presenter was left with bruising and "superficial scars" after being accidentally knocked over while travelling on the Underground last week. Porter used Instagram to disclose the full extent of her injuries and respond to the "keyboard warriors" who claimed there was something "wrong with my face".

The 90s pin-up had been travelling to the premiere of the new Trainspotting musical when the unfortunate incident occurred. She said: "So ... to all you wonderful keyboard warriors that said I'm looking old, and saying something was wrong with my face. I went to @trainspottingthemusical to support my friends who created this. Last week.. I was knocked over while going down the stairs at a London Tube Station. It was just a wee accident on the stairs. Nothing intentional!", reports the Daily Star.

"My scars are superficial and it's not a problem. It was an accident and it won't stop me being me."

The 55 year old has experienced mental health struggles over the years and understands all too well how harsh people can be on a superficial level, having battled alopecia and homelessness.

Appealing for compassion, she described herself as "a wee Scottish Warrior" and stated: "Please... from the bottom of my heart.. don't ever be disrespectful to anyone for how they look or how they are.

"Kindness is so invaluable x (sic). Just always look out for each other. Simple x And good concealer! ! ! (sic)" In a separate post, the former Top of the Pops host shared a snap of herself back on the underground sporting oversized sunglasses, writing: "A few bruises well covered up! The wonders of make up! ! ! ! (sic)".

Gail's famous friends were swift to rally round after spotting the images. Fellow 1990s television favourite Sarah Cawood, 53, commented: "My poor girl! That looks sore. Honestly Gail, what IS this world we live in? Sending you a giant squish darling x (sic)."

Fellow Scot and Altered Images singer Clare Grogan, 64, typed: "Sending Love Gail! Xxx (sic)."
