
The US Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has been evacuated due to a reported bomb threat. A huge police presence has been set up around the perimeter of the diplomatic area in the Palermo neighbourhood of the Argentine capital.
Sources from the City Police told local media that staff at the embassy received a phone call in which an anonymous person said: "There is a bomb outside the embassy. For this reason, the Argentine Federal Police are working at the scene."
Argentina's Federal Police also confirmed: “The threat was made by phone call. There was a preventive evacuation and the Explosives Unit of the PFA Fire Department continues to work at the scene."
Another police spokesperson added that "the Explosives Brigade has been deployed to the scene. The street has been closed off and the brigade is carrying out the necessary procedures around the perimeter of the diplomatic headquarters."
