A three-year old boy was air lifted to hospital after being involved in a collision with a van at a UK campsite.

The three-year-old was hit by a van at Red House Farm in Earnley, near Chichester on Saturday.

The incident happened at around 7.30pm with witnesses reporting an air ambulance on the scene of the campsite on Bookers Lane at around 9pm.

Sussex Police have said that no arrests have been made and an investigation is underway.

The boy remains in hospital and is being treated for serious injuries.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: "Emergency services responded to a collision at a campsite in Bookers Lane, Earnley, Chichester, at around 7.30pm on Saturday, August 1.

"A three-year-old boy was injured after he was involved in a collision with a van and he was taken to hospital for treatment.

"No arrests were made and police are investigating the circumstances."

The campsite is family-run and just three miles from West Wittering Beach in Chichester.

It is a small site with ten pitches for caravans and motorhomes and 20 spots for tents.
