It was reported earlier this week that Harry would love his father’s support at the games, especially at the opening or closing ceremony. It is not known whether the duke’s Invictus Foundation has reached out to the monarch about this, or what the King’s views are. However, it is clear that this is not something most of the British public want the monarch to do.

The Daily Express launched a poll asking readers whether King Charles should join Harry at the Invictus Games next year.

The poll, which ran from 11.20am on August 4 to 3pm on August 5, found that 4600 people out of the 4903 who took part in the poll voted no.

This shows that they do not want the King to be seen with Harry at the 2027 event.

Meanwhile, 245 people thought the King should join Harry, while 58 said they didn't know.

A source told The Mirror: “Harry’s intention is two-fold. He would love the King’s support at the Games, while having his father by his side would also add considerable weight to his argument for security for his family to accompany him on the trip.”

It is believed Harry would also like his father to speak to veterans if he were to attend the games.

The Duke of Sussex last saw King Charles in July at Highgrove, along with his wife Meghan Markle and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The meeting was kept completely private, with confirmation that it took place issued afterwards by the Palace. No information about anything else related to the meeting has been shared.

Harry is set to visit the UK again in September for the Wellchild Awards 2026, however it is not known if he will see his father during this upcoming trip. It is believed he has been offered a room at Buckingham Palace to stay in.
